Property portal UKHomeSearch, though still very new on the market, continues to gain momentum with now over 135 estate agents, letting agents and developers signed up. ‘Free standard listings’ is the USP driving agents to UKHS from competitors Rightmove, S1Homes & Zoopla. The sting in the tail for UKHS competitors is that this hot new portal generates revenue from optional upgrades (some of which are again free until July 2013), so the site confidently offers a service comparable to market leaders, but with the commitment to remain free of charge for standard listings.
Those drawn to advertise on UKHomeSearch include Anderson Strathern, Warners, Lindsays, McBeth Currie, Penny Lane Homes, McEwan Fraser and Westpoint Homes. Managing Director of UKHomeSearch, James Gordon, is delighted by the response and is devoted to developing more UKHS innovations – such as PropertyBook* and PropertyMobile** – and set to commence a fire starter of a campaign to raise consumer awareness. “We anticipated a good response from clients: the USP makes the site a no brainer to list on and many agents are keen to break away from portals that charge exorbitant fees to simply list stock. We can now progress to phase 2, which will drive volumes of traffic to UKHomeSearch. Consumer feedback has already indicated that integration with social media makes UKHS a popular choice; users can be notified of homes matching their search criteria by having them automatically posted to their Facebook wall and/or Twitter account, if they choose to.”
“We’ve crammed the site with features that helps agents manage their stock successfully, and completing phase 2 will result in a bona fide property marketing revolution. It’s exactly what agents seek.”
The first quarter of 2013 has been extremely busy, James admits, with a number of contracts being concluded including a tailored agreement with a widely respected franchise. The progress of UKHS has drawn significant interest from a number of investors, and James has not ruled out that possibility. “The rate of growth to date has been phenomenal and, looking ahead, there is the possibility that a good partnership may serve to further enhance the consumer journey.”
