In a bid to pursue its mission to aid athletes in forging career paths on a global scale, Uru Sports, the premiere field hockey platform, has announced a new branch in South Africa.

Headed by prior Olympian, Rassie Pieterse, and Garreth Ewing, field hockey World Cup coach, Uru Africa has successfully helped athletes across the board. Together the pair brings more than two decades' worth of hockey coaching and competing experience, and saw more than 200 players sign up during the Uru Africa premiere in November 2018, in Cape Town during the Pro Series Tour event.

"We're thrilled with the traction we're getting in Africa. The caliber of both youth and professional athletes coming to us is exceeding our expectations," said Pieterse. "Through our networks, we have some of South Africa's best players asking for placement assistance."

"As our network grows, we're bringing incredible experiences and relationships to every continent," said Ewing. "It's exciting to be part of the globalization of the world hockey community."

Furthermore, Uru hopes to see their practice pave the way for a greater standard of character-based business and localize similar platforms in the South African region.

Currently hundreds and hundreds of athletes utilizing Uru to search and discover career options around the world, the company's start up in Africa is another big push toward an even larger expansion for the startup.

"We look forward to replicating Uru Africa's affiliate model in other regions and sports worldwide," said Uru's founder Ainsley McCallister. "With Rassie and Garreth's business expertise and networks in place, I'm confident that we'll continue growing and creating avenues for athletes to grow personally and professionally in the coming years."

Uru Africa is one of several partnerships between Uru Sports and other companies and organizations from around the world. The company's focus is on quick expansion into new and emerging markets by providing local experts the mechanisms to better use their current connections and develop new opportunities for athletes. The company's goal is to recreate their affiliate program in more markets and regions, which will include Asia, South America, and Australia, and through varying sports which includes rugby, basketball, soccer, and others.
