Despite the digital uprising, when it comes to hiring, things are still the same as they were “back in the day”. Online applications abound now, but the process is still much the same – find a vacancy, submit an application filled with tons of extraneous information, and then wait and wait and never get a response.
On the employer side, it isn’t much better. Post a job and then spend tens or (more likely) hundreds of hours filtering, screening, scheduling interviews, and otherwise communicating with potential candidates. This inefficient and ineffective process also creates a horrible employee experience at the beginning of the employee’s journey with their new employer. Upstart AllyO has set out to turn this process on its end.
Using a combination of various forms of artificial intelligence (AI), including natural language processing (NLP), the company creates an automated, conversational approach to recruitment and new employee hiring. A candidate expresses interest in a job by texting a code to the company’s platform. The system then initiates a text-based conversation with the candidate, collects applicant information, and performs screening, filtering and even assessments via the conversational interface. It then schedules interviews for qualified candidates and handles the offer and on-boarding process for successful candidates. The company claims that it reduces the cost and time to hire by 50-60%, helps companies attract more qualified candidates, and creates a much better candidate experience.
