VivaReal COO Lucas Vargas (pictured left) has taken over from the Brazil-based real estate classified platform’s co-founder Brian Requarth as the company’s new CEO.
Requarth, who is now executive chairman of the Vivareal board, was CEO for almost eight years after launching the company in Colombia and then moving it to Brazil where to focus its operations in the Portuguese-speaking nation.
An AIM Group report says neither Requarth nor Lucas Vargas was available to comment.
The report says the information went public on the two men’s LinkedIn profiles and Vargas was presented this week at a conference in Sao Paulo as VivaReal’s CEO.
Prior to his role at VivaReal, Vargas spent close to three years at Bain as a senior associate consultant and was a co-founder and executive director at Deu Samba, a daily-deal start-up for eight months.
He also worked as co-CEO at Groupon in Brazil for more than a year.
At VivaReal, Vargas was sales VP, executive VP of sales and marketing, and COO for a combined period of nearly four years.
VivaReal has raised $US70 million from investors and has been competing with Zap for the No. 1 position in terms of traffic. Zap is Brazil’s No. 1 real estate classified player by revenue.
