The CEO and founder of Zoopla Property Group, Alex Chesterman, has been named as one of Britain’s top entrepreneurs in the annual Maserati 100 list which honours key industry distruptors.
The list, which is now in its third year, includes 100 of the UK’s top ranked entrepreneurs and aims to honour industry disruptors in the spirit of the luxury car’s founders –The Maserati brothers – who were passionate supporters of the entrepreneurial spirit.
Maserati 100 states on its website that Chesterman was acknowledged for his “contribution of two long-established industries: in 2011 he made several million pounds when Amazon splashed out £200m on Lovefilm, the movie rental service he had helped found nine years before; and in 2008, Chesterman created Zoopla as a competitor to Rightmove, Britain’s then-dominant property website.”
In 2016 Chesterman was also awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for services to Digital Entrepreneurship.
Also included on Maserati’s Top 100 is Ishaan Malhi of Trussle, head of what is described as Britain’s first online mortgage brokerage.
