Udacity has recently announced its association with LetzConnect, a Chennai-based edtech platform facilitating skill development opportunities for university and college students in India.

The deal worth $10 million will enable the Silicon Valley-based platform to tap LetzConnect’s expansive network and extend its lifelong learning resources to college and university students and enhance their employability. LetzConnect would hold exclusive rights and help Udacity to reach out to academic institutions in the country.

Skill-gap has emerged as a major concern for students, professionals, and businesses alike in today’s technologically-transforming world. While the awareness of the need for upskilling and re-skilling to thrive in the modern jobs landscape is slowly blooming across the country, the emergence of technology experts is yet to catch up with the emergence of AI-centric job roles. According to a recent study, skill-gap resulted in nearly 2,500 AI-based job positions to remain vacant in India last year.

The partnership is aimed at enabling Indian students to acquire and upgrade skills in technologies and assume high-growth job roles of the future that will continue to be in-demand throughout 2020 and beyond.

Speaking on the partnership, Lalit Singh, COO, Udacity, commented:

“All students expect high-value jobs after they graduate from college. As a rapidly-progressing digital-first economy, India is rife with such job opportunities. Learners just need to skill themselves up in the relevant domain to become job-ready. Our partnership with LetzConnect is a step towards enabling Indian college and university students to bridge the skill-gap and emerge on the other side as new-age professionals specializing in emerging technologies.”

“LetzConnect focuses on employability to deliver advanced skilling and  employment for its user base of college students across India. In the last 4 years, we have focussed on digitizing campuses, providing the students with a platform for academic learning, as well as access to some of the world's best upskilling content in future technologies and personality development. With the Udacity partnership, our students can now go through great learning opportunities and industry-backed certification programs, following which we provide employment options to the programmes' students through job fairs.”
