Doss Launches its own AI-Powered Portal: A First Look

June 1, 2023

Doss has unveiled its AI-powered marketplace, moving it out of Beta testing and releasing it to the public.

Doss, based in Houston, Texas, says the new technology, dubbed Doss 2.0, is the first “narrow-domain consumer-facing platform” that lets users find a property using ask questions via text or speech to find a property that suits them.

The new product combines Doss' in-house code with Open AI's Chat GPT-4, allowing users to search without any of the constraints associated with the generic Chat GPT plugin.

The company will also integrate insurance, mortgages, conveyancing and home services to become a one-stop-shop for prospective homebuyers.

Chris Norton, CEO at Doss, said:

“The seamless integration of GPT-4 and our proprietary image recognition and tagging system by Doss marks a significant advancement in the real estate industry.

“With Doss 2.0, users can now search for properties, ask detailed questions and receive personalized responses — all in a seamless and conversational manner.”

Michael Ramirez, Chief Technology Officer at Doss said:

“Less than 1% of users on the internet have access to GPT-4, so Doss’ integration to its platform will provide access to all prospective home buyers.

“What we’re doing at Doss is leaning into the AI as much as possible and evolving classical components like filtered search. Instead of clicking on several filters, many of which are lost in the large-form dropdowns, the user is now empowered to search in a more native manner.”

Doss' homepage now looks like a text search bar, just like Google. We decided to look for a simple two-bedroom house in Houston, on the market for less than $195,000.

The integration transforms the search query into live filters, with matching properties highlighted on Doss' interactive map:

The Chat GPT integration isn't limited to home searches, with Doss able to answer queries about how to sell a home, how to identify different types of loans, and which rooms to renovate before selling.

Conceived and built by self-confessed tech lovers, Doss is a real estate portal on a mission to "drastically improve" home search—according to founder Bobby Bryant, who spoke to Online Marketplaces last year.

The portal already operates a voice search option for users and secured funding from Amazon's VC arm last year on the back of its AI-powered model.
