UK Challenger OnTheMarket (OTM) has entered the build-to-rent space by introducing a dedicated listing service for build-to-rent developments.

Subscribers to the new package will be assigned a dedicated account manager and will also get access to OnTheMarket Expert, which will allow them to use a wide selection of rental tools and data points, market trends and local insights, and market appraisal guides to boost their chance of winning listings.

OnTheMarket has appointed industry expert Mitch Hammand to manage the new Build-To-Rent segment of the portal, with the likes of Cortland and Populo Living listing their BTR communities on OTM already.

Jason Tebb, President at OTM, said:

"Mitch brings with him a rich background and knowledge of the Build-to-Rent sector which will prove to be invaluable as we grow this new service.

"He joins at a pivotal time for business, with the acquisition by CoStar Group accelerating our target of becoming the market leader, bringing industry-leading global expertise and significant financial firepower to help deliver even more value for all our customers.

"As with the other sectors we are involved in, fair and sustainable pricing sits at the core of our Build-to-Rent offering. Estate agents, developers and operators now have an alternative product that brings real competition to a growing market."

Interestingly, OTM's expansion comes very closely on the heels of rival Rightmove's strategic acquisition of HomeViews for £8 Million.

Meanwhile, OTM has also partnered with Push Property to help agents promote their listings on social media, after a successful trial period.

OTM members can trigger an automated social media post when they publish a new listing, with changeable calls to action. Push Property works on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
