Yandex Classifieds Q2 2025: Revenues Shrink as EBITDA Margin Narrows

July 30, 2025

Yandex, the largest search engine and advertising platform in Russia, has released its second-quarter financial results for the year.

Highlights for the company's Classifieds segment include:

  • RUB 8 billion (USD 97.3 million), down 5% YoY
  • Adjusted EBITDA loss was RUB 800 million (USD 9.88 million), a 22% improvement YoY
  • Adjusted EBITDA margin was -10.3%, a 2.3% improvement from last year

Yandex Classifieds encompasses Auto.ru, Yandex Real Estate, Yandex Rent, Yandex Travel and Yandex Services.

The segment's revenue in the second quarter of 2025 decreased by 5% compared to the same period last year, hampered by Auto.ru's limited car sales. At the same time, the market-leading Yandex Travel service continues to demonstrate positive dynamics and strengthen its position in the market.

Yandex said:

According to the adjusted EBITDA indicator, the loss amounted to RUB 0.8 billion and decreased compared to the loss of RUB 1.1 billion in the second quarter of 2024. The improvement is mainly due to the growth in the marginality of the Yandex Travel service, achieved through the optimisation of unit economics.

The Classifieds segment is a minor slice of the Yandex pie, generating RUB 8 billion (97.3 million) of revenue, or just 2.3%, of a company-wide total of RUB 332.5 billion (USD 4.1 billion) for the quarter.

Yandex's investor relations release outlined the rollout of a new AI tool, 'Search with Alice'. It integrates a chat with Alice, which is based on several Yandex neural network technologies. Yandex says Alice already answers a quarter of all user queries.
