Diversity is always a topic of interest. Whether it’s about gender, age, or race, companies should always be able to fit a solution into America’s diversity issue where they can.

Recently, Redfin’s CEO received backlash for a blog post where he claimed the company would fight racism. One former agent posted on LinkedIn saying: “Anybody who actually wants to impact Redfin and its culture for the better, my experience told me you won’t make it very far.”

Though the criticism was harsh and (most likely) needed, the company has made some progress to meet the needs of its staff, past staff, and consumers.

Redfin has announced that Kerry Chandler, a Black woman, and HR executive, will be joining the company’s Board of Directors.

Chandler is the current Chief Human Resources Officer for entertainment, sports, and media conglomerate, Endeavor, with deep experience in HR under her belt.

Speaking on the announcement, Chandler, who will be the ninth Redfin board member, said:

“I love Redfin’s mission to redefine real estate in the consumer’s favor and its commitment to being the best employer in real estate.”

Redfin CEO Glenn Kelman has been hinting at a new board member appointment for a while, saying that there would be one announced by the end of this year. This is part of his plan to diversify the Redfin workforce and make good on his promise.

Chandler continued:

“Now is an especially important time to join Redfin, because the company is at the center of a seismic shift with the opportunity to impact where people live and work.”
