Malaysian end-to-end rentals specialist Instahome has announced the hiring of two former iProperty industry veterans to its executive team.

Leon Kong, who co-founded iProperty Group and more recently has been Advertising Solutions General Manager at Juwai IQI, has been appointed Instahome's Country Manager for Malaysia. Kong's fellow iProperty alumni Kambiz Khanlari also joins Instahome as CTO having most recently been in the fintech industry with iMoney.

Commenting on the appointments, Instahome's CEO, Eric Tan said:

“Considering the shifts we are already witnessing in renters behaviour, tremendous opportunities are abundant. In our mission to provide a seamless home rental experience for tenants, agents and landlords, we need to further align and evolve our capabilities to be more forward-focused, ensuring that we are able to truly create value for each one of our stakeholders. We are working on an alchemy of digital tools that will help us realise this.”

“This is why I am thrilled to welcome both Leon and Kambiz to the team. Their vast experience and rich expertise will strengthen our capabilities to support the growing complexities of our clients. The duo will help us in reinforcing our commitment to make renting a home as easy as buying a T-shirt online.”

Instahome operates a model which is broadly similar to other end-to-end rental platforms around the world. Users find an apartment they like from the portal's deduplicated listings, check available dates, submit documents, and once they have the landlord’s approval they book the apartment. The platform incentivizes prompt rental payments from tenants with rewards as well as helping with moving and home maintenance.

Launched in October 2020 by Patrick Grove and Eric Tan, Catcha Group-backed Instahome operates primarily in Kuala Lumpur and recently signed a partnership deal with the Indonesian co-living specialist Flokq to share inventory and know-how.
