Homes.com Reaches Agreement with CRMLS Over Unpaid Fees

October 24, 2025

Homes.com will continue showing California homes for sale after reaching an agreement with an MLS service provider that sued the portal for breach of contract earlier this week.

California Regional Multiple Listing Service (CRMLS) is one of the largest multiple listing services in the United States. CoStar Group ran the risk of having its data feed to Homes.com's listings cut off over an alleged breach of contract between Homes.com and REcore solutions, the company responsible for licensing the MLS data.

But CRMLS says it will now keep Homes.com's MLS feed open with no disruption and with no further legal action.

"CoStar Group and CRMLS are happy to announce that they have renewed their long-term agreement under which Homes.com will continue to receive CRMLS listings. An action filed Tuesday by REcore concerning such listings is being dismissed with prejudice. CoStar Group and CRMLS are delighted to continue their long-standing relationship with no interruption in the flow of CRMLS listings to Homes.com"

Unlike true brokerages, portal operators in the US are required to pay for MLS listings data. The MLS operator had alleged that CoStar had failed to pay for access to listings data that it had licensed in January 2024. It claims that it had made multiple attempts to reach an agreement with the Homes.com parent and was forced to take the matter before the courts.

Regarding the amount CoStar has agreed to pay, no information was available. CRMLS had been seeking damages of $887,500 in its suit.
