OnTheMarket PR Push Continues with Agent Signups and Roadshow

The UK's number three portal OnTheMarket (OTM) is definitely ramping up its PR in the early months of 2024 with a slew of agent signups and a roadshow.

Meanwhile, the portal has released a statement on its website outlining improved performance metrics since CoStar Group completed its acquisition of OTM in December.

OTM has reported that unique monthly visitors up 81% in January 2024 compared to January 2023.

Additionally, ten agents throughout the UK appear to have started listing with OTM in the past week or so, including Rettie, Leaders Romans Group and Edward Mellor—and the portal certainly appears keen to publicise as many signups as possible as it embarks on a multi-million marketing campaign funded by new owners CoStar Group.

Furthermore, the PR push continues in the form of a roadshow closely resembling OTM's previous "town hall tour" that saw the recently-retitled company President Jason Tebb face customers in person.

While agent signups are a (much-needed) boost for OTM, the reality is that it will need to spend the entirety of its $45 million marketing budget many times over to seriously compete against Rightmove, the behemoth UK market leader.

The challenger's apparent willingness to publicise every win, including agent signups, is a good start—and it most likely barely scratches the surface of what will become a high-octane narrative in 2024. OTM reported it has added 57,000 listings to its portal since the CoStar acquisition in December 2023.
