Rightmove, like all other companies, had recently reported its half-year figures, showing a drop in agent numbers compared to January to 3.3%. We shared the results here

Reveling in the news is Say No To Rightmove, a campaign set to take away agents from the British marketplace started by those unhappy with how Rightmove does things.

One of the four leading real estate agents running the campaign, Murray Lee, who is also Managing Director of North London agency, Dreamview Estates, said:

“Id like to think that the Say No To Rightmove campaign has had some effect on this and been part of the cause.

“Rob, Paul, David, and myself have worked tirelessly since March to try and bring about some change in the way Rightmove (and the other portals) work.  I think we had success if only by the discounts provided alone and proven by the 3.3% fall in branches.

“I think we have seen a fundamental change in the way agents view the portals and the way they view us. I also have to thank Alan Goldin, Phillip Wise, and Richard Dangoor for putting me forward to lead our local protest which culminated in the coming together of over 3000 agency branches in the action groups.”

There is a possibility that, due to the pandemic and branches closing, it would increase the number of agents ending their memberships with Rightmove as a way to cut their own personal costs.

Still, the campaign is pleased and they have hope that the pattern will continue as more agents ‘see the light,’ so to speak.

“Moving forward, the campaign is not stopping, but pushing forward even further and we hope that Rightmove make the right move and come back to us with offers of better rates and lower tariffs after the end of the current discount period

“There is still a groundswell to leave them if they do not. ”
