Sharing the wealth and in time with the holidays, two billionaires invested in the real estate industry have joined Bill Gates and Warren Buffett’s Giving Pledge, promising to give a majority of their wealth to charity before or after they die.

One signer is the CEO of assets investor firm, Blackstone, Stephen Schwarzman. His net worth is currently an impressive $21 billion, making him one of the biggest givers in the pledge this year.

Continuing his company setting a better example, Zillow CEO Rich Barton, who was just recently named an official billionaire, is another pledgee who has signed up for the Giving Pledge this year, as well.

The Giving Pledge has been running for a decade, with 16 signees joining to pledge their wealth, a year. There are currently 216 individuals and couples signed up for the pledge. The Giving Pledge is non-binding, but is described as more of a “moral commitment.”

Buffett said in a statement:

“The Giving Pledge is a simple proposal to the world’s wealthiest: join us in giving away the majority of your resources to address society’s most pressing problems.

“Efforts like the Giving Pledge aim to inspire those who have more than they need to give bigger and sooner.”

Other progressive moves by Barton and Zillow include continued option to work remotely for its employees and joining the Board Challenge to boost diversity in high corporate employment.
