Transatlantic Expansion: UK-Based PropertyHeads Launches in the US

February 14, 2023

British real estate listing giant PropertyHeads has launched a US-based twin off the back of its success in the UK.

The expansion plans have been in place since 2022 with PropertyHeads working hard with US partners to ensure maximum uptake from day one.

PropertyHeads has signed up over 500,000 users in the US, making it (already) the largest property social network in the country. Over 3,000 people a day have joined the platform since launch, with over 60% national coverage.

The company’s mission is to help US realtors connect with and maintain relationships with home movers in a way traditional portals can't, with CEO Ben Davis saying social media is a much bigger part of US home buying than in the UK.

PropertyHeads US expects to reach 10 million users by 2025, and already has 750,000 homes for sale on its site with 45,000 agents.

By comparison, PropertyHeads has 2.6 million UK users. Founded in 2018 by former investment manager Ben Davis, the company has since registered more than 10,000 property businesses. It holds data on almost 30 million homes across the United Kingdom.

Online Marketplaces reached out to CEO Ben Davis for comment.

He said:

“We are very excited to bring The Property Social Network to the United States. PropertyHeads is unique in how it brings together the agent and home mover most suited to each other. We look forward to helping US real estate agents grow their businesses and to helping Americans make smarter real estate choices.

“The US has always been in our thoughts. We waited until we reached critical mass in the UK first (which we defined as 1 million monthly website visitors) before making our move.

There are social networks in the US that are focused on property investing (Active Rain, Bigger Pockets), and there are big neighbourhood-based social networks (Nextdoor and Parkbench) with a property element to them. But we're certain there is a big gap to be filled for a pure-play property focused social network aimed at a broad US audience.”

Online Marketplaces recently featured PropertyHeads in our "where are they now?" series for UK challengers. Indeed, we gave the company an honourable mention as one of the 'winners'—but we had no idea a major US expansion would be announced a matter of weeks later!
