WeWork's largest geographical space to be Malaysia

May 20, 2019

US-based flexible work space aggregator, WeWork, is continuing its South-East Asian expansion with its sight set on Malaysia. The workspace operator has chosen Kuala Lumpur's Equitorial Plaza to be its largest regional space out of all of its spaces across the globe.

The space is its largest in South-East Asia to-date and accommodates 1,900 members across five floors.

The company has grown to 19 locations with more than 13,000 desks across the region in a year. It is present in Singapore, Ho Chi Minh, Manila, Jakarta and Bangkok.

Bolstered by a strong demand in the city, WeWork will also be expanding locally in Mid Valley in the later half of this year.

“With Kuala Lumpur increasingly becoming a hotbed for innovation and modern development, we see huge potential coupled by Malaysia’s steady economic growth and unique position as a high-value market for foreign investment in South-East Asia. While our regional strength has proven to be a springboard in enabling creator communities to flourish, we are committed to Malaysia in being a platform for fostering greater innovations among the local business community,” said Turochas Fuad, Managing Director of WeWork South-East Asia.

He adds that WeWork is fueling the innovation economy by bringing people together in high-growth sectors such as technology, creative and professional services, and advanced manufacturing.

Among its members are Momentum Commerce, parcel service provider PostCo and StashAway, an intelligent wealth management platform.
