Zillow filed a motion for a preliminary injunction that would prevent the MLS provider MRED from cutting off Zillow's access to Chicagoland listings during its recently filed lawsuit against the MLS and the brokerage, Compass.
An update on Zillow's website said:
Zillow on May 18 filed a motion for preliminary injunction asking the court to prevent MRED from terminating our Chicago listing feed while the antitrust case proceeds. The threat is imminent and documented: MRED has repeatedly said it will cut our access, and a Compass executive who sits on MRED's board was telling Compass agents it was already decided as recently as the past week.
According to exhibits and declarations filed with the motion, Compass boss Robert Reffkin sent emails to several MLSs in the United States asking them to cut Zillow’s access to multiple listings feeds. Zillow's motion also alleges that Compass is using MRED to “threaten” Zillow over listings in three states: California, Florida and Georgia.
