CoStar Group Brings Matterport to Domain

April 14, 2026

CoStar Group has launched a team of drone pilots and photographers as part of a nationwide rollout of Matterport technology in Australia for its residential portal, Domain.

Domain has already built a national in‑house workforce of more than 25 full‑time photographers and CASA‑licensed drone pilots, with plans to scale to over 60 operators to establish a new baseline for property presentation.

The move will bring several key advancements to consumer experience during their home search in Australia, including interactive floor plans as standard, drone-captured exteriors, the ability to virtually “defurnish” rooms, accurate room measurements, digital twins, high-quality 4K photography, and a digital booking system for drone captures.

The service will be available to vendors at no extra cost on Domain's most popular marketing package across 1700 suburbs in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and the Gold Coast, as of July 2026.

Jason Pellegrino, President at Domain, said:

"This is Australia’s first fully end‑to‑end system for capturing deeply immersive property imagery. We’ve brought together in‑house capability, instant app‑based bookings for agents—not unlike reserving a restaurant or medical appointment—and seamless integration of 3D assets directly into listings. The result is consumer‑grade speed and simplicity applied to what has historically been a manual and fragmented property marketing process.

“We’re able to do this at scale because we’re not starting from scratch. As part of CoStar Group, we’re leveraging a proven blueprint that has already been built and refined in the United States, where drone, photography and spatial data capture operate as core data infrastructure. That gives us the confidence to invest deeply, bring capability in‑house and deploy nationally from day one, rather than experimenting around the edges.

“By bringing these roles in‑house, we’re creating stable, high‑skill jobs supported by consistent safety frameworks and professional development. We’re raising the bar for the industry and ensuring every operator working in local communities is fully licensed, insured and operating to a national gold standard. Including these experiences in our most popular agent package removes cost barriers for sellers and makes listings more engaging and informative. Buyers can explore a home in detail before inspection and revisit it anytime, while sellers can showcase their property at its very best without worrying about extra fees or logistics.”
