Greenville Agent Launches App to Rival Zillow

Bob Morgan, a Greenville real estate agent, got the idea to create an app when running into issues with helping his daughter and her husband house hunt. The agent has since launched that app. Called Quitchet, Morgan has a steep goal to compete with Zillow.

Quitchet is yet another avenue for connecting home hunters, sellers, and agents directly.

For buyers and sellers, the app, which has a similar look to Zillow, except sporting a bright orange instead of blue, offers an MLS for the Greenville area. Unlike Zillow, it is currently adless and only has homes listed by agents in the MLS.

Buyers and sellers can communicate through the app with their agents, store notes, and photos in a file tied to individual listings, which they can go back to during the comparison stage of house hunting.

For agents, Quitchet lets agents set up and organize showings, using the chat function as a quick and easy way to communicate with consumers and schedule showings.

Morgan said:

"We appeal to team leaders and brokers in charge because they can track agents and their showings for safety. You can also see who agents are working with."

Agents can map out the most efficient route for a day of showings, sharing those with clients so they can avoid riding in the same car.

With the influx of accessible proptech development and an increasingly growing market for innovative technology to streamline real estate transactions, agents are starting to create their own services outside of the bigger named companies that fit their needs more acutely. Is this the next stage of the real estate industry? A proptech boom run by individuals rather than giant corporations?
