More news on leadership shuffling. Real estate consultancy, CBRE, has let go of Oscar Garcia who held the director role for the company’s retail intelligence channel. He was also a National Director of Retail High Street in Spain. The decision is part of a company downsize. CBRE has laid off over 50 staff from its architecture, retail, and residential departments.

Garcia joined CBRE in 2015 where he was appointed the National Director of Operating Management. He was promoted the same year to the National Director of High Street Retail in Spain, which he held for two years.

Garcia’s latest position was Retail Intelligence Director, which he was named in 2017. It was a newly established department that allowed the company to combine specialist research, digital innovation, data analytics, and customer experience to develop a more comprehensive solution for owners and tenants in the retail sector.

Maria Miranda will be taking over as head of this department, moving forward. She was previously leading the Operation Management department for the Iberian Market.

CBRE has assured that he layoffs are not completely in conjunction with the COVID crisis. The company said that the layoffs are part of a 2022 strategic plan. CBRE’s project management, retail, and residential are all departments that have struggled long before COVID. The company has reviewed its 2020-2022 plan and has made the strategic decision to cut numbers to make up for the slack.
