Realtor.com has launched RealAssist AI, a conversational home search tool built in collaboration with Google that puts it on a similar footing to its rivals, Zillow and CoStar Group.
RealAssist AI is the most significant product statement from Realtor.com in years. The new tool allows buyers to search using natural language, retain context across sessions, and explore neighbourhoods using live mapping data. The system also incorporates Google-powered visual tools that let buyers see what a street looks like after dark, how a property changes with the seasons, or how a new exterior finish would look before they ever book a viewing.
RealAssist AI is also built with real-time Fair Housing guardrails and grounded in live MLS data, and directs buyers towards local agents at every stage.
Damian Eales, CEO at Realtor.com, framed the launch as the beginning of a broader offensive.
"Realtor.com is positioned to lead the AI era in real estate, and the data already points that way. We lead our competitors in AI brand favourability. We are the most trusted brand among real estate professionals and the No. 1 real estate news publisher in the country. Our collaboration with News Corp and deep industry roots give us an authority in this space that others simply cannot replicate. We are taking that foundation and building the best AI tools in the industry. That means more informed buyers and sellers, and agents who can have better conversations with every client. RealAssist AI is what that looks like today and there is much more to come."
According to a Realtor.com press release, the product has entered a limited beta period with a full rollout to follow.
The Google partnership gives RealAssist AI a mapping layer that goes beyond standard commute-time searches. The integration also underpins the visual neighbourhood tools, which represent a meaningful step beyond what other US portals currently offer at scale.
Mickey Neuberger, Chief Consumer and Marketing Officer at Realtor.com, pointed to the anxiety that surrounds early-stage home buying as the core problem:
"Buying a home is one of the biggest financial decisions most people will ever make, and most buyers start the process feeling overwhelmed and underprepared. RealAssist AI removes the uncertainty and builds confidence at every step, from early research to connecting with a local agent, because the insight behind it is real. Every buyer deserves that."
The integration will benefit from a strong focus on visualisation as part of the consumer experience. The Google-powered mapping tool is probably beyond what other US portals (namely Zillow, Homes.com and Redfin) can be reasonably expected to offer at scale, and should give Realtor.com a meaningful leg up on its rivals.
In January 2026, Realtor.com also launched Realtor.com+, a collaborative search platform built with MLS partners and positioned explicitly as the industry-backed alternative to closed platforms.
