The CEO of Emerging Markets Property Group Haider Ali Khan has been named as the CEO of Emirati marketplace company Dubizzle six months after EMPG’s deal with Dubbizle owner OLX brought the two together. In merging with OLX in he UAE, EMPG became a $1 billion dollar company and currently owns and operates many leading portals including in much of North Africa with its Mubawab title as well as in Pakistan with Zameen.
The news comes hot on the heels of former Dubbizle boss Barry Judge being appointed CEO of newly launched rival portal houza which was formed by a coalition of leading agencies in the region and aims to create more competition in the country’s property portal field. With horizontal listings site Dubbizle and thoroughbred property portal Bayut on one side and experienced regional player PropertyFinder on another, houza certainly has its work cut out to carve out market share.
