As the world continues its seemingly inexorable grind to a shuddering economic halt, companies from across the online classifieds spectrum have been doing what they can to help out.

This week we have reported on Autotrader in the US introducing measures to facilitate digital car sales, Indian car portal CARS24 changing its marketing to promote self-isolation, the early launch of jobs portal Upstream to help those left unemployed and portals like OnTheMarket freezing fees for their customers.

Today it is the turn of Indian shared-living-space portal Nestaway who have waived as much as $1 million in fees and service charges for new tenants who may have been ejected from other housing.

A company spokesman was quoted as saying: “We have been supporting those who are stranded, by offering accommodation at our residences with immediate effect.”

The Bangalore based company which specialises in ‘managed home rentals’ has made the gesture at a crucial time with reports that India could be a new potential hotspot for the virus.
