South African property portal has acquired a property auction platform from Spintelligent media company

The acquisition is just one part of a new plan by Private Property, a real estate listings marketplace based out of South Africa. Having also appointed Amasi Mwela as the new CEO of the company, Private Property will also expand and enhance its service for its customers.

Private Property purchased property auction platform, Property Buyers Show, from Spintelligent, a media company, business intelligence partner and event management company for Sub-Saharan Africa. Spintelligent provides world class trade-exhibitions and conferences, industry publications and multimedia resources, and business training programs to help its clients expand their operations and achieve their business ambitions.

"The Property Buyer Show will allow us to improve the range of services we offer to our customers by creating a rounded offering that covers the whole property life cycle. It will also position us favourably for what we believe to be the next great opportunity in real estate: the growing numbers of South Africans who are entering the middle class and looking to begin building wealth through property," says Mwela.

Amasi Mwela first joined Fundi (then Eduloan) as COO in 2015. He was promoted to his current position as CEO of the organisation shortly thereafter. Amasi led the company’s rebranding as part of its strategic future vision in the country and on the continent.

Amasi credits his background in finance and related roles at leading companies including Old Mutual iWYZE, American Express Corporate Travel, and both Standard Bank and FNB with equipping him with the experience and expertise required in his role as CEO. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Bond University) and has an MBA (Milpark Business School).

"This growing number of first-time property buyers have a clear understanding of what property can do for them, and we aim to be the partner they choose to realise their goals in an increasingly difficult economic climate. The Property Buyer Show gives us a solid platform on which to establish ourselves within this expanding segment," Mwela continues.

Property Buyers Show began in 2017 and since has held five events that have brought in over 15,000 visitors. It's sixth show will be held in Cape Town this April.
