Fotocasa Acquires Specialist Data Company PixiePixel

December 12, 2021

The Spanish real estate portal Fotocasa has announced that it has acquired the property data company PixiePixel for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition comes on the back of a collaboration between the two companies who had been working together to create the DataVenues housing data analysis and AVM tool. The tool is already being used by stakeholders in the Spanish real estate sector such and signed an important agreement with Banco Santander in May.

“The acquisition of PixiePixel means an acceleration of Fotocasa’s strong backing of data intelligence and so we’re delighted that PixiePixel will be incorporated into Adevinta as a team of experts in the field of Big Data technology in real estate. Fotocasa continues to reinforce its leadership as a strategic provider of data for the real estate sector.” said Jose Manuel Merino, General Manager of Fotocasa y Habitaclia.

Founded in 2008 by Diego González y Leonardo García, PixiePixel has been able to take advantage of the wealth of data supplied by Spain second most trafficked portal (Fotocasa) as well as fellow Adevinta-owned portal Habitaclia to build what it believes is the best data analysis tool in the market.

“Through all these years we’ve been working with Fotocasa to make DataVenues the leading valuation tool in the real estate industry. Now with the incorporation of our team into Fotocasa we can amplify this and other tools that help both customers and users make decisions” explained Diego González.

Property portals are increasingly looking to specialist data firms to upgrade their AVMs and analysis tools. Last week, German market leader ImmoScout24 extended a similar long running partnership with data company Sprengnetter and back in September Australian #2 portal Domain acquired specialist data services provider Insight Data Solutions.
