Realtracs, the Nashville MLS that is threatening to remove Zillow's access to listings in the region, has pushed back a May 31 compliance deadline amid negotiations with the portal.
Last week, Realtracs told its broker members that it was preparing to switch off Zillow's listing feed for Nashville in protest of Zillow's controversial listing access standards—following in the footsteps of another MLS (MRED, Chicago) by threatening to switch off Zillow's listings feed for violating listing display rules.
The new deadline is June 8, with Realtracs saying it is "continuing active negotiations with Zillow."
Realtracs holds that brokers own their listing data, and the organization is negotiating on behalf of its members to see that the value of their work is recognized by platforms, including Zillow, that rely on listing information created by brokers and agents to operate their businesses.
Realtracs is continuing active negotiations with Zillow as the current license agreement approaches its June 8 expiration date and is committed to minimizing disruption for brokers and their clients throughout this process.
Meanwhile, Stuart White, CEO at Realtracs, said:
"[We are focused on serving our members]. That means protecting seller choice, recognizing the value of broker-created listing content, and providing a platform that encourages cooperation while preserving flexibility and opportunity for everyone involved in a transaction."
Zillow continues to argue that the brokerage Compass is behind a concerted effort to switch up how consumers see listings.
Last week, a Zillow statement said Realtracs' strategy came from "the same playbook...initiated by Compass CEO Robert Reffkin, to pressure MLSs across the country into pulling sellers' listings off Zillow."
Both MRED and Realtracs have announced plans to scale their regional MLS's nationally, and both appear to have secured agreements with Compass to share the brokerage's listings, while any Compass agent who becomes a full member of Realtracs will benefit from subsidised membership costs.
