Zumper CEO to Transition to Boardroom, CRO Steps Up

March 11, 2026

Anthemos Georgiades, founder and CEO of the American rental marketplace Zumper, will step back from the role, with incumbent CRO Shawn Mullahy replacing him as CEO.

Georgiades will become Chairman of the Board at Zumper, playing an active role in Zumper’s long-term vision and strategy.

In a press release, Georgiades said:

"Shawn is the ideal leader to guide the company forward in this new customer-centric, AI first world. He brings deep operational expertise, a strong understanding of our customers, and a clear vision for the future of the rental marketplace. I’m excited to continue supporting Zumper as Chairman while Shawn leads this next chapter.”

Speaking on LinkedIn, Georgiades said Zumper is "profitable, cash-flow positive and growing revenue, adding that the business is "one of the largest online marketplaces in the US, but the opportunity is now much larger than this."

"This is the right time to invest more deeply in our commercial leader and bring our Sales org closer to our Product, Design & Engineering teams to continue building AI-first products at a pace I have never experienced before in my career.

"Our investment in Shawn is also an investment in our team. He will be supported by an incredible Executive team and a core group of builders whose responsibilities will grow as part of this move. I am beyond proud of them, and this is a reflection of that."

Mullahy commented:

"What excites me most about this moment is the opportunity ahead of us. Our team is building solutions that go far beyond a traditional marketplace, helping property operators simplify marketing, reach renters more effectively, and turn digital discovery into real leasing outcomes. I’m honored to step into this role and continue building alongside the team that’s driving this next chapter for Zumper."

Zumper is a privately backed rentals marketplace in the United States and Canada, approaching 1 billion all-time visits since its inception in 2012. The portal operates against Zillow and Apartments.com, among others, in a highly competitive rentals market that sits outside the idiosyncratic MLS system in the sales market.
