We'll start this week's People Roundup in Europe...
OLX Group has appointed Andrew Garrihy as Chief Marketing Officer.
Andrew will be responsible for driving the next phase of OLX’s marketing strategy, building demand and ensuring users and professional customers understand the full value of what OLX’s global marketplaces offer. Central to his remit is ensuring AI is deeply embedded in how OLX’s marketing function operates.
According to a press release, Garrihy served as CMO of OLX Autos between 2022 and 2023, and most recently as Senior Advisor to the company before joining the Executive Team. His previous roles include stints in senior roles at Huawei, Qualcomm, Samsung, and Vodafone.
Christian Gisy, CEO at OLX, said:
"One key focus for OLX’s next phase of growth is continuing to harness AI to deliver even greater value for our customers’ businesses and for our users. Andrew’s vision for making AI central to the future of effective marketing, combined with his vast international experience makes him the ideal person to lead us through this next phase."
Garrihy added:
"OLX is accelerating and it is a great time to return to the business. It has a clear vision, strong leadership, leading talent, and importantly, an unrivalled investment in AI across the classifieds industry. This is a genuinely innovative company at an exciting moment, and I’m looking forward to delivering on the opportunity and the ambition.
"AI will change marketing at the core, not the edges. The winners will pair deep marketing expertise with the skill to direct AI, rebuilding marketing around what it now makes possible rather than bolting it onto how we work today."
The Swiss real estate marketplace NewHome.ch has shaken up its board of directors with two new additions.

At the same time, Laurent Decrue was appointed Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Carousell Group has promoted Vishal Salunkhe to chief business officer (CBO).
Salunkhe joined Carousell Group in 2020 before being promoted to VP and regional business head in 2022. As CBO, Salunkhe will be responsible for scaling revenue, executing go-to-market strategies and launching new monetised products across the Group's operations in Southeast Asia.
Carousell Group is the leading multi-category classifieds and recommerce platform in Greater Southeast Asia on a mission to make secondhand the first choice. Tiê Lima, co-founder, Board Member and current CEO of the resale classifieds platform Enjoei, will transition to the boardroom, with former OLX executive Marcos Leite joining the business.
According to a company statement, Leite was an attractive candidate, described as "an executive with extensive experience in technology, marketplaces, and the Brazilian used goods market."
Leite will join the company in September.

In 2012, he returned to Brazil to lead the initial operation of the OLX Group, where he remained for 14 years. He led disruptive initiatives in the Brazilian classifieds market, such as the consolidation of the sector, including the merger with Bomnegocio.com and the strategic integration resulting from the acquisition of Grupo ZAP. As a senior member of the Executive Committee, he was directly responsible for key areas of the operation, directly managing highly relevant structures.
More recently, he was Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) of the OLX Group, responsible for the strategy of the main verticals and the management of the company's business lines.
