The Adevinta owned Spanish property portal Fotocasa has today announced that it has hired ex-TV news Anchor María Matos to the position of Director of Studies and spokesperson. Matos, who has a degree in journalism from the prestigious Universidad Complutense, had previously been a television news presenter for several channels as well as a regular presenter at awards shows and will now be the new public face of Fotocasa.

With the new hire, Fotocasa is seeking to position itself as the 'go-to' source for property queries for the Spanish media industry. The company is already prodigious in its production of a wide range of studies and press releases and is now seeking to get more exposure for the content it creates. Fotocasa will be competing with the likes of idealista and Pisos.com who both also have very active media relations and studies departments.

Last year we spoke to Ferran Font of Pisos.com who told us that although he wasn't trying to build any kind of personal brand around his role as Director of Studies and Spokesperson, the building of one was "more of a consequence of my responsibility rather than an objective."
