There's more change at Opendoor at the start of this week's People Roundup...

North America: Opendoor CFO leaves as shakeup continues

Opendoor has continued its management shakeup, announcing the departure of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Selim Freiha after less than a year in the post.

The company also announced the appointment of Christy Schwartz as interim CFO, effective September 30, 2025. Schwartz returns after previously holding the same position between 2022 and 2024.

Opendoor is undergoing a major strategic change with the recent appointment of Kaz Nejatian to replace Carrie Wheeler, while founder Eric Wu—who was replaced by Wheeler in 2024—joined the company's board of directors alongside co-founder Keith Rabois.

Nejatian recently made his first media appearance since his appointment, joining the VC20 podcast to lay down a bullish and sometimes fiery assessment of how Opendoor will switch up its operations in the coming years.

Meanwhile, Rabois has suggested that Opendoor could cut 85% of its workforce, claiming he "doesn't know" what most of the company's employees do.
