Domain’s chief commercial officer, John Foong, has announced he will step down from the role in two weeks after four years with the business. Foong will remain on as an advisor into 2026 as the Australian portal moves into a new phase following its acquisition by CoStar Group.
Under new management, the company says it's restructuring senior roles, retiring the broader CCO/Managing Director position and creating more focused leadership. “Domain is entering an exciting new chapter as part of CoStar Group,” Foong said in a LinkedIn post. “To support this next phase of growth, we’ve created more focused leadership roles and as part of that evolution, my broader CCO/MD role will be retired.”
Foong paid tribute to teams across commercial, product, technology and marketing, and emphasised the company’s reliance on estate agents. He described agents as “the heart of Domain” and added: “Everything we’ve built is to empower your success.”
Reflecting on his time at the company, Foong wrote: “Working alongside you, being challenged by you to make Domain better has been one of the great privileges of my career.” He plans to visit major Australian markets in the coming weeks to meet partners and colleagues before leaving the executive role, and will continue to engage with the sector through speaking, mentoring and coaching.
Foong said he is open to future leadership roles in technology or property, with a preference for enterprise-scale businesses.
